# Reliable iOS testing in two minutes.

URL: https://momentic.ai/ios-testing

platform / ios-testing

Write end-to-end tests for iOS apps in plain English. Momentic runs each flow on local or hosted simulators and keeps it working as your app changes. Native Swift, React Native, Expo, and Flutter builds use the same tests.

## How iOS test automation works.

From installation to your first passing iOS test in two minutes.

01

### Install

One command. Signs you in, installs the mobile CLI, initializes the project, registers with your coding agent, and runs a sample test.

02

### Author

Describe the flow in plain English. Momentic writes the executable test as portable YAML and saves it in your repo, so it shows up in code review like any other file.

03

### Run

Hosted simulator, a local Xcode simulator, or CI. Same command, same result.

## iOS test automation features.

Author, run, and debug iOS tests without owning simulator infrastructure or maintaining an XCUITest suite.

### Natural-language iOS test authoring

Write tests in plain English. Tap Continue with Apple. Verify the paywall dismisses. No accessibility identifiers to maintain, no view-hierarchy queries.

Engineers and coding agents write the tests.

### Local or hosted iOS simulators

Hosted simulators start in seconds, with no Xcode install. Connect a local simulator when you need Instruments, a device log, or a pre-release iOS build.

First passing test in 2 minutes, not 2 hours.

### Native and cross-platform iOS support

Native Swift and SwiftUI, React Native, Expo, Flutter. Same authoring model, same APIs across all four.

Works with the stack your team already has.

### Self-healing iOS test locators

Intent-grounded locators plus auto-healing. Tests anchor to what the user does, not to the view hierarchy, and the resolved path is cached for the next run.

UI refactors don't break your test suite.

### CI-ready iOS app testing

Run tests on every PR via GitHub Actions, GitLab, CircleCI, or any CI that runs Node. Build upload and channel management are in the CLI.

Verify the build before it reaches TestFlight.

### MCP for coding agents

Cursor, Claude, and Codex can author, run, and debug Momentic tests directly through MCP. Set up at install time.

Your agent writes the test. You review the diff.

Trusted by teams that ship every day.

Engineering and product teams use Momentic to expand coverage, cut test maintenance, and catch regressions before release.

## iOS testing, answered.

What is iOS app test automation? It runs real user journeys inside your iOS app and checks the outcome: onboarding, sign-in, navigation, in-app purchases, and permission prompts, on every build instead of once before release. Do I need Xcode to get started? Not when running on a Momentic-hosted simulator after a compatible .app build has been uploaded. Xcode and macOS are required when building the native test artifact or running local iOS simulators. Which iOS versions does Momentic support? Momentic's hosted simulator fleet currently supports iOS 26. Teams requiring another version should [contact Momentic](/sales). See the [documentation](https://docs.momentic.ai) for the current list of supported simulators. Which iOS application frameworks can I test? Native Swift, plus React Native, Expo, and Flutter builds that produce an iOS simulator app. What application format does Momentic require? An iOS Simulator .app bundle. Native projects build one in Xcode. React Native, Expo, and Flutter each have their own simulator build command that produces the same thing. How does Momentic reduce flaky iOS tests? Momentic targets elements by intent, re-resolves them when the UI moves, caches the path that worked, waits for the screen to settle, and retries through transient failures. Timing and layout changes stop breaking the run. Can I run iOS tests in CI? Yes. The mobile CLI runs the same tests locally and in CI. Hosted simulators mean CI does not need a macOS runner with Xcode installed. Can a coding agent create iOS tests? Yes. The mobile MCP server gives Cursor, Claude, and Codex the tools to author, run, and triage mobile tests without leaving the editor. Where are uploaded iOS builds managed? Hosted builds are uploaded as versioned assets and organized using channels and tags. Local simulator runs can reference a local .app path instead. How is iOS testing priced? Momentic uses usage-based credits, not per-seat pricing. Free includes one mobile device. Pay-as-you-go runs up to 5 Android and 5 iOS simulators at once, with iOS metered at 15 credits a minute. Enterprise is custom. Can I test a TestFlight build? No. Momentic runs an iOS Simulator .app bundle, and TestFlight distributes a device .ipa. Build the simulator target from the same commit instead. Can I run iOS tests without a Mac? Yes, once a simulator .app is uploaded. Hosted simulators need no Mac, and neither does CI. Building that .app needs macOS and Xcode, and so does a local simulator run. Can I run tests on physical iPhones? Not today. iOS tests run on local and hosted simulators. Real devices are not supported.
