# checkScreenContains

> Assert that text is present anywhere on the screen.

Deterministically asserts that the given text appears somewhere on the screen.
The simplified form takes the text as a single string.

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type      | Required | Description                                                 |
| --------- | --------- | -------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| `text`    | `string`  | Yes      | Text expected to be present.                                |
| `timeout` | `number`  | No       | Milliseconds to wait for the text to appear.                |
| `saveAs`  | `string`  | No       | Variable to store this step's return value on `env.<name>`. |
| `retries` | `number`  | No       | Times to retry the step on failure before failing the test. |
| `skipped` | `boolean` | No       | Skip this step at execution time.                           |

## Shorthand

Text as a single string.

```yaml theme={null}
- checkScreenContains: Order #12345
```

## Examples

```yaml theme={null}
- checkScreenContains:
    text: Order #12345
    timeout: 5000 # poll for up to 5s before failing
```
